So. We have a new scanner, and I finally got a chance to use it today. I spent 10 minutes getting it to scan jpg files instead of pdf, and then made two discoveries about it when I actually started scanning pictures.

#1: Quality and lighting are much nicer than the old one. Also, the glass is cleaner and my sketchbook lies flat on it, so it doesn't warp the image much. Colors also come out nicer.
For ages I've wanted a better scanner, and now I have one!

#2: The scanning field is 8.5 by 11 inches.
My sketchbook is 8 by 12.

And that is why I do not have a bunch of colored cartoons scanned in like I had planned to. They used the entire sketchbook page, and don't fit the field of this nice new scanner.
The irony is killing me right now, but at least I have a habit of drawing small, so in general my non-cartoon drawings should fit fine.
